The town of Bento Gonçalves, in Rio Grande do Sul, will receive, from May 6th to 9th, the Consultation of Venetians in the World and Meeting of the Venetian Youth. The meetings are promoted by Veneto Region, in partnership with the Veneto Committee of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The initiative marks 150 years of Italian and Venetian immigration to the region, with a focus on preserving culture and strengthening ties with new generations.
During the four days of activities, the three-year plan and the annual action program of the Veneto Region for 2026 will be discussed. The documents define guidelines for supporting Veneto communities abroad, valuing language, history and traditions.
A Venetian Association in the World, based in Padua and with 27 years of experience, will participate with two representatives: Mara Busato, from Campodoro, as consultants, and Anna Turcato, from Piazzola sul Brenta, as youth spokesperson.
Among the demands raised at the meeting is the reinforcement of projects aimed at young Venetians and their descendants up to the fifth generation. The entity advocates more investment in training, exchanges and cultural visits to Veneto.
The Association will also request the renewal of calls for proposals aimed at cultural initiatives promoted by diaspora entities and greater financial support for joint actions carried out outside Italy.
On the second day, participants will visit emblematic places such as Caminhos de Pedra, a heritage site recognized by UNESCO, and the Wine Fair South America. At the event, the book “San Marco, il leone e l'evangelista”, by President Aldo Rozzi Marin, will be launched, which deals with the symbols of Saint Mark in the state's squares.
The cultural program will also feature performances by artists from Febo Teatro, a group from the city of Padua, who will liven up the region's stand with typical Venetian masks.
