Orders to Italian industry grow by double digits

Turnover in Italian factories began to grow again.

Orders to factories in Italy rose by nearly 16% in August, year-on-year, up 10,2% compared to July 2016, official statistics showed on Tuesday.

Data from the local statistics institute (Istat) indicate a year-on-year increase of 15,9% in orders for the Transalpine industry, after a decline of close to 12% in July. Most sectors grew in orders received, with emphasis on orders for the manufacture of transport goods, where the order book increased by 42,7%.

In the monthly evolution, the variation in orders for the industrial sector in Italy was calculated at 10,2%.

According to the same source, the sector's sales volume increased 10% compared to August 2015, growing 4,1% compared to July this year. Business volume increased by more than 4% in domestic sales and exports.
