Bernardini said Italian investors will participate in the roads, ports and railways sectors
Brazil's Infrastructure Minister, Tarcísio de Freitas, visited the Italian Embassy in Brasília this Wednesday (13), where he met with companies from the European country to present investment opportunities in the sector.
At the invitation of Ambassador Antonio Bernardini, Freitas spoke about the government's guidelines for the port, airport, road and railway segments. The event was also attended by representatives from the governments of Paraná and Santa Catarina, who illustrated projects from their states.
“The event is part of the initiatives organized by the Embassy to support the projection of Italian companies in this market after the formation of the new Brazilian government”, declared Bernardini.
According to the ambassador, “infrastructure represents one of the main areas of potential development of the Italian business presence in Brazil, along with the electrical energy sector, which was the subject of a specific seminar organized by the Embassy in Rio de Janeiro on February 13”.
Bernardini also highlighted that the Bolsonaro government developed a “credible plan based on the participation of the private sector”. “I must say that there is an intense relationship between our governments. Italian investors will definitely participate in the road and railway sectors, and we must not forget about ports,” he said.
The ambassador also commented that talks continue between the two countries to define the date of a possible visit by Bolsonaro to Italy.
According to the Embassy, Italian investments in Brazil are concentrated in the manufacturing industry (33,6%), information and telecommunications sectors (28%), electricity and gas (14,9%) and the financial niche (9,2%). Currently, more than a thousand branches of Italian companies operate in the Brazilian market.
