The Italian Embassy in Brasilia delivered this Monday (06) the Order of the Star of Italy (Ordine della Stella d'Italia) for eight Brazilians. The solemn ceremony took place at the Italian embassy.
The commendation, with insignia and certificate, was presented by the Italian ambassador, Francis Azzarello.
One of five orders of chivalry awarded to its citizens or foreigners for services rendered to Italy, the honor – one of the most important in the country – was created in 1947 in recognition of expatriates and foreigners who contributed greatly to the reconstruction of Italy after the Second World War. .
Since 2011, the order has been reformulated and started to focus on promoting Italian prestige abroad.
Minister Luiz Fux, current president of the Federal Supreme Court, was one of those awarded. The embassy received several criticisms on its Facebook page for having honored him.
