The Italian Embassy in Brazil indicated flights were available for return, but did not mention repatriation.
Like the USA and Germany, the Embassy of Italy made an appeal for all its citizens who are in Brazil for short-term reasons to return to the European country “as soon as possible”.
According to the diplomatic representation, there are still flights available by Lufthansa (leaving São Paulo) and Air France (leaving São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro) that allow you to reach Italy through connections in Frankfurt (Germany) and Paris (France) , respectively.
Alitalia and Latam, which operate direct routes to Rome and Milan, have suspended flights due to the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic. The notice applies only to Italian citizens residing in Italy who are temporarily in Brazil, such as for work or tourism.
The website of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided a question and answer page to clarify any doubts about the conditions for the return to Italy.
People who return must immediately notify the Italian health agency and will undergo health monitoring. In addition, they will have to comply with a mandatory isolation period of 14 days in their own home.
