Pasta: one of Brazilians’ favorite dishes.
Food is one of Brazilians’ favorite dishes. Fettuccine, spaghetti, conchiglione… Which one is the best?

Did you know that Brazil is the third largest consumer of pasta, behind only Italy and the United States? In 2013 alone, around 1,2 million tons of pasta were consumed in the country. The ingredient is so popular that in 2014 it was given a special date on the calendar, [tooltip hint=”World Pasta Day was created in 1995″]World Pasta Day[/tooltip]. And to celebrate, it’s worth choosing one or more options from the dish, depending on your appetite.

The food, which basically consists of water and wheat flour, can be produced in different ways: with semolina, durum grain and wholemeal flour, or with ingredients such as eggs and vegetables, which give rise to the popular spaghetti, fettuccine, noodles and linguine, between others. The pasta goes well with red meat, fish, seafood or simply with sauces such as bolognese or gorgonzola.

Celebration

World Pasta Day was created in 1995, during the I World Pasta Congress, held in Roma, which brought together the world's leading manufacturers. Since then, the date has been celebrated in several countries, with the aim of spreading the benefits of pasta and increasing per capita consumption.
