Democratic Party (PD) parliamentarian Fabio Porta, president of the Italy-Brazil Friendship Association, said this Wednesday (17) that President Sergio Mattarella's visit to the South American country is “historic”.
“A historic visit.
The President of Italy wanted to dedicate an entire week to Brazil to pay tribute to 150 years of Italian immigration and relaunch bilateral relations between the two countries in grand style,” he analyzed.
Porta stated that the meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was marked by “the common desire to confirm strong ties of cooperation and friendship, but above all by the commitment to strengthen strategic collaboration through the renewal of agreements and the launch of new partnerships”.
Regarding the head of state's visit to Rio Grande do Sul, the Italian deputy based in Brazil commented that the visit was “significant and emotional”, in addition to confirming the “concrete solidarity” of the European nation. (HANDLE)
