The Consulate General of Italy in São Paulo has provided important updates to its Instagram page: announced restrictions on the issuance of fiscal Code for non-Italian citizens, celebrated the appointment of a new honorary vice-consul in Ribeirão Preto, paid tribute to Vincenzo Spedicato for his contributions to the Italian-Brazilian community and said goodbye to deputy consul Livia Satullo, who is ending her mission in Brazil after four years of dedication.

Issuance of the codice fiscale: restrictions for non-Italian citizens

In an official statement, the consulate announced that it will no longer issue the fiscal Code – the Italian equivalent of the Brazilian CPF – for people who do not yet have recognized Italian citizenship.

Issuance is restricted to the following categories:

  • Students, interns, self-employed or salaried workers who will settle in Italy;
  • Visa applicants for any reason;
  • Retirees who need the code for social security processes;
  • People involved in notarial procedures.

fiscal CodeThe Tax Identification Number (FINC), managed by the Agenzia delle Entrate, is an essential tax identification number for various activities in Italy. At the consulate, the application and issuance follow different procedures for recognized Italian citizens and those who do not yet have Italian citizenship.
