A car that was parked in the same spot for almost 50 years has become a tourist attraction in an Italian city.

Um Lancia Fulvia gray, five-speed, it became a mainstay in front of a newsstand in Conegliano, in the Veneto region.

The classic car's owner, 94-year-old Angelo Fregolent, parked the vehicle in front of the small business he ran with his wife in 1974.

When the couple retired, they left the vehicle on the street. The car has since become a local landmark as tourists take a photo with the car to post on social media.

It was joked that the car should be declared World Heritage site and legacy of the city's grandparents. The governor of the region is from the city and said he saw his car parked there since he was going to school. Even though it hasn't been running for so long, the fees for the car's annual licensing have never stopped being paid.

“Of course I would be happy to see it valued as it deserves,” Fregolent told local newspaper Il Gazzettino.

Despite all its success, the car was recently taken to the Auto e Moto d'Epoca Motor Show in Padua to be displayed alongside other classic cars.
