Christmas markets are back with a bang this year and Italian events are full of special attractions. In the north of the country, there are the most famous, which feature arts, games, craft objects, special foods and sweets.
in the heart of Bressanone, in the region Trentino-Alto Adige, the Christmas market lights came on on November 24th with a rich program of parties and events. Every Monday and Wednesday a demonstration is held in Praça do Domo, with demonstrations of crafts and the telling of classic stories.
Declared a “green” event, the Bressanone It presents many sustainable measures such as reducing waste, controlling energy consumption, as well as facilitating rail transport to the event. The market is open until January 6th.
Em Vipiteno, also in Trentino-Alto Adige, lights, garlands, nativity scenes and Christmas decorations in general are the attractions for visitors to the event that continues until Epiphany Day. Furthermore, carriage rides make the place a perfect setting for a classic European winter photo.
Under the “Tower of the Twelve“, an old medieval tower built in 1486, you walk between 34 decorated houses and skate on a specially built ice rink. The most popular foods are decorated cookies and wine with cinnamon.
Still in the same region, Trento it becomes the “city of Christmas” with events between Fiera and Cesare Battisti squares until January 8th.
It is one of the most sustainable markets in Italy thanks to its reduced environmental impact and the two special bicycles placed in the squares so that visitors can help generate energy to power the lights used at the fair. For 28 years, the market's 75 wooden houses have been selling everything from handcrafted objects to culinary delights.
Already in Livigno, in the region of Lombardia, the market environment is magical and full of fables. The small wooden houses are decorated with colorful lights and traditional decorations, while perfumes and the blanket of snow on the roofs bring an even more suggestive atmosphere. The place is open until December 24th.
Until December 11th, in Santa Maria Maggiore, in the heart of Vale d'Ossola, in the region of Piemonte, there are 200 Christmas chalets in a long exhibition route where all the regional artisanal excellences are presented.
Among the highlights are works made with spruce trunks and traditional decorated foods, as well as wines, piadinas and roasted Portuguese chestnuts.
