the federal deputy Carla Zambelli, sentenced to ten years in prison in Brazil, intends to run in the Italian legislative elections in 2027. The information was confirmed by her lawyer, Fabio Pagnozzi, to the Metrópoles portal.
According to him, Zambelli has already begun talks with representatives of the Italian right. The goal would be to continue her political activity and avoid a possible extradition request. The pro-Bolsonaro parliamentarian has Italian citizenship and fled Brazil in early June, following a Supreme Court ruling that found her guilty of invading, with the help of a hacker, the National Council of Justice (CNJ) system.
The congresswoman is suspended from her position in Brazil and awaits final judgment on the loss of her mandate. She is on Interpol's wanted list, although Italian authorities claim to be unaware of her official whereabouts.
In the last days, Zambelli was seen at an evangelical service in Scafati, a city in the province of Naples. According to the newspaper the Republic, she wore a veil on her head during the ceremony. Despite the exposure, she remains unidentified by authorities.
