The Comites headquarters in Porto Alegre was officially opened. The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Brazil, Alexander Cortese.
The Committee of Italians Abroad (Committees) represents Italian citizens residing outside Italy. The new headquarters is consolidated as a space for dialogue and representation in Rio Grande do Sul.
The new headquarters is located in the Carlos Gomes Center, an imposing building located in Solitude Avenue, on the corner of Avenida Carlos Gomes, in Porto Alegre.
The space, on the roof, is approximately 500 square meters, with an auditorium that can accommodate around 50 people. “Our commitment to seeking advances to better serve the Italian-Gaucho community is renewed as the entity achieves important improvements in its structure,” explains president Cristina Mioranza.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday (7), featured the launch of the book “We’re on our way”, by Carlos Iotti. The work humorously portrays the saga of Italian immigrants in the state, valuing the memory of Italian colonization.

The Consul General of Italy in Porto Alegre was present, Valerio Caruso, the president of Comites-RS, Cristina Mioranza, and the advisor of the General Council of Italians Abroad (CGIE), Stephania Puton.
Also participating were the State Secretary of Justice and president of the Commission for the 150th anniversary of Italian immigration in RS, Fabrício Peruchin, as well as State Deputy Guilherme Pasin and other representatives of the Italian-Gaucho community.
