Trade between Italy and Brazil reached US$11 billion—approximately R$58,85 billion. This figure (for 2022) was highlighted by Ambassador Alessandro Cortese during the seminar "Green Transition, Industry 4.0, and Fair Competition," held in Brasília.
The event, promoted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce of São Paulo (Italcam), had the participation of more than 10 Italian companies and the support of the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development of Brazil.
According to Cortese, the expectation is that 2025 will be a record year for economic relations between the two countries, especially if the free trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur is approved.
New phase of institutional presence
During the meeting, the ambassador announced the opening of an Italcam office within the Italian embassy in Brasília. "This is a step that further consolidates Italy's presence here, not only through large industrial groups, but also thanks to the network of small and medium-sized businesses, which bring innovation, technology, and jobs," he stated.
Italcam president Graziano Messana also highlighted the impact of Italy's presence in Brazil. "There are more than 1.100 companies, with over 20 billion euros in investments and tens of thousands of jobs," he declared.

Sustainability, technology and fair competition
The seminar addressed topics such as the green transition, Industry 4.0, and unfair market practices. Sectors such as the automotive, textile, and pharmaceutical industries were cited as vulnerable to actions such as dumping and counterfeiting, which affect competitiveness and consumer safety.
Representing the Brazilian government, Secretary Eduardo Tavares mentioned the Baixio de Irecê concession project in the Northeast region, which has financial support from the Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo. "The partnership with Italy is very strong," the secretary said.
In addition to industry and government representatives, members of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (Ibict) and parliamentarians from the Italy-Brazil Friendship Commission were present.
