Regions will have autonomy to follow or not the calendar proposed by the government
After days of arm wrestling, the Italian government gave the regions autonomy to reopen some services and businesses in the country on May 18.
Among them are hairdressers and beauty centers, which can only operate by appointment, and bars and restaurants, which must have their tables spaced 2 or 4 meters apart, among other rules.
But if the Covid-19 contagion curve increases, the government has already made it clear: it will intervene to organize new closures.
Therefore, some regions have already decided not to follow the calendar authorized by the central government.
Calabria, for example, allowed bars and table services to reopen on April 30th. Veneto, Sardinia, Friuli and Sicily also allowed commercial activities before the official scheduled date.
Official guidelines and information about activities that reopen on May 18 will be confirmed between next Thursday and Friday.
The own goal
Contrary to the government, teams in the top division of the Italian Championship began individual training sessions on Monday (4), when Italy began phase 2 of the process of easing social isolation.
At the time, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said that only individual training could begin, however, team activities would have to wait until May 18th.
For a change, some clubs called up their athletes for “individual training”.
Italian football has been suspended since March 9 and the league and the Italian football federation (FIGC) want to complete the season. But the Italian Government has not yet decided whether it will allow the competition to reach the end.
