With 3 euros more, anyone who buys a ticket will help the project
Immigrants and people seeking asylum will be able to enter an Italian cinema for free. The initiative was launched through the Facebook profile of the Beltrade cinema, in Milan, in the north of the country, and will begin operating from the 22nd.
“Cinema is more beautiful when it speaks the language of the world”, says the post, referring to the initiative, called “Karmaticket”.
Anyone who buys a ticket at Beltrade can contribute an extra three euros to give a ticket to immigrants or people seeking asylum. The tickets will be distributed to three foundations that provide assistance to these people: Rete de Scuole Senza Permesso (or Network of Schools Without Permission, in Italian), Sprar and the A. Abriani Foundation, in Milan.
The initiative sparked controversy online among those who believe the company should provide assistance to Italians in financial difficulty and not just foreigners. The cinema manager said that “this is an initiative that serves, above all, integration. Don't worry, because white, red and yellow players who are in difficulty will easily enter Beltrade, paying little or even for free.
