Research Unione Nazionale Consumatori, based on Istat data from July 2025, reveals the Italian cities where hotel prices have increased the most. The survey compares prices with those of 2024 and 2021, and highlights the largest increases in both the short and long term.
The organization's president, Massimiliano Dona, commented: "We don't know if hoteliers were cautious or if prices had already reached their limit in previous years. The fact is that, from 2021 until now, hotel services have risen well above the country's inflation."
Lucca
Lucca tops the list of cities with the largest one-year price increases. In July 2025, hotel prices were 20,2% higher than in the same month in 2024. Compared to 2021, the cumulative increase reaches 56,5%.

Caserta
With an annual increase of 13,7%, Caserta appears in second place in the ranking for 2025. The data is the result of an analysis of price variations between July 2024 and July 2025.

Rimini
Considered one of Italy's top summer destinations, Rimini has seen a 10,9% increase in hotel room prices over the past year, placing it third on the list of highest short-term increases.

Perugia
Perugia ranks fourth among the cities with the highest price increases between 2024 and 2025. Prices rose 10,2% in just twelve months, according to Istat data analyzed by the Unione Nazionale Consumatori.

Florença
Despite being one of the most visited cities in the country, Florence saw a modest increase in prices: just 0,3% between 2024 and 2025. However, in the accumulated total since 2021, the increase was significant: 58,8%, placing the capital of Tuscany in third place among the highest increases in four years.

Veneza
Venice saw a 1,3% drop in prices over the past year, but leads the rankings for long-term increases. Since 2021, hotels in the city have increased by 64,7%, the highest percentage among all the cities analyzed.

Roma
In the Italian capital, prices fell 3% between 2024 and 2025. However, compared to 2021, there was a 50,1% increase, indicating that the largest increases occurred in previous years.
Milan
Milan saw the biggest price drop last year: -7,9%. Still, it's the second city with the highest cumulative increase since 2021: a 60% increase in hotel rates.

Grosseto
Grosseto is among the cities with the largest increases over the four-year period. Between 2021 and 2025, daily rates rose 57,5%, placing the municipality fourth in the long-term ranking.

Trieste
Trieste appears in fifth place when considering the accumulated increase since 2021. The increase was 55,5%, according to the survey by Unione Nazionale Consumatori.

Palermo, Naples, Como, Reggio Calabria
Other cities also saw increases exceeding 50% over the four-year period. Palermo rose 53,6%, Nápoles 52,4%, Como 51,7% and Reggio Calabria, next to Roma, increased by 50,1%.
