According to the newspaper The New York Post, construction was carried out during the First World War for shelter for Italian soldiers during battles against the Austro-Hungarians. 

To get to the place, currently called the larger camp Carlo Buffa di Perrero, it is not easy, you have to climb the mountains with safety support.

Recently, the structure served as a shelter for people who ventured on trails in the area and for the Alpine and Speleological Relief Corps in the region.

However, strong winds and snow shook the structure and the house is now decommissioned. Therefore, the Italian Alpine Club, which manages the trails, recommends a new shelter on the Forcella Marmarole mountain, safer and with capacity for up to 12 people.
