Genoese singer and composer Federico Olivieri, better known as Olly, won the Sanremo Festival, Italy's biggest music competition, last Saturday (15).
The 23-year-old rapper won the 2025 edition of the event with the song “Balorda nostalgia”.
The podium was completed by Lucio Corsi, with “Volevo essere un duro”, and Brunori Sas, with “L'albero delle noci”. Fedez and Simone Cristicchi closed the group of the top five.
“It’s one of those things that doesn’t seem real when it happens. I’m very happy,” said Olly, who was taking part in Sanremo for the second time in his career.
The young Genoese musician's victory was achieved by a very small margin. The song “Balorda nostalgia” closed the competition with 23,8% of the accumulated preferences over the course of the week, while “Volevo essere un duro” by Corsi was only 0,4% behind.
Olly's triumph at the Teatro Ariston will allow the singer to represent Italy at the next edition of Eurovision, scheduled to take place between May 13 and 17 in Basel, Switzerland.
Among the 29 participants in Sanremo, the Italian-Brazilian singer Gaia Gozzi competed with the song "Chiamo io chiami tu," but finished in 26th place, ahead only of Clara ("Febbre"), Rkomi ("Il ritmo delle cose"), and Marcella Bella ("Pelle diamante").HANDLE)
