Bolzano, in the far north of Italy, is the province with the highest occupancy rate in the country, while Vibo Valentia, in the south, has the lowest rate.
According to data released by the Fundação Consultores para o Trabalho, 71% of inhabitants between 15 and 64 years old in the northernmost province of Trentino-Alto Adige and in Italy are employed.
At the opposite extreme, only 35,8% of people in this age group work in Vibo Valentia, which is in Calabria, a region chosen by “The New York Times” as one of the destinations to visit in 2017.
The numbers confirm once again the discrepancy between the north and south of Italy, which persists despite constant changes of government in the country. In terms of cities, the one with the highest occupancy rate is the northern Bologna (70,9%), while the southern Naples registers just 36,2%.
Another important fact is that the level of employment among foreigners (66,6%) is nine percentage points higher than among Italians (57,4%), which can also be explained by the fact that the native population is much larger. than the outsider.
