Bologna, in northern Italy, is the province with the highest quality of life in the country, according to a ranking released this Monday (12) by the economic newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore .
The survey is carried out annually and is based on dozens of indicators divided into six areas: wealth and consumption; business and work; demography and society; environment and services; justice and security; and culture and free time.
Sixth in 2021, Bologna reached the top of the ranking in 2022, followed by Bolzano, in the far north, and Florence, in the central north.
The northern part of Italy, in fact, dominates the top of the ranking, with Siena, Trento, Aosta, Trieste, Milan, Parma and Pisa completing the top 10.
The 10 provinces with the worst quality of life, out of a total of 107, are all in the south of the country: Nápoles, Caserta, Enna, Taranto, Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia, Foggia, Caltanissetta, Isernia and Crotone, which closes the ranking.
According to Il Sole 24 Ore, Bologna is the leader in the “demography and society” category, which evaluates indicators such as women's quality of life, study time, life expectancy, birth rate and even cases of Covid-19, and second place in “wealth and consumption”, which includes average property prices, inflation, average retirement, family expenses, among others.
On the other hand, the province is only 95th when the subject is “justice and security”, with a negative emphasis on the total number of reported crimes (104th) and robberies (102nd).
The leaders of the other five categories in which Bologna is not in first place are Belluno (wealth and consumption), Milan (business and work), Oristano (justice and security), Pisa (environment and services) and Florence (culture and free time ).
Of these, only Oristano, in Sardinia, is not in the northern half of Italy. (ANSA).
