The 26th São Paulo International Book Biennial which started this Saturday (2) in the capital of São Paulo and continues until July 10, will feature lectures on Italian immigration in Brazil.

Rede Globo journalists, Ilze Scamparini (Saturday, July 9th, at 16pm) and Ernesto Paglia (Friday, July 8, at 20 pm), together with other guests, they will discuss topics such as the role of tourism in expanding ancestral knowledge, as well as a look at Italy from the perspective of its descendants.

The 54 lectures – involving various topics – will be held in the large stand of the FamilySearch, next to the food court at ExpoCenter Norte, at 11am, 14pm, 16pm, 18pm, 19pm and 20pm.

A reference in genealogy, FamilySearch will present a variety of resources and discovery experiences that will enable Biennial visitors to advance their respective genealogies and family histories, for themselves and future generations, thus building a personal and virtual book of their own family history.

To help visitors access their family trees, create a free account and access historical documents and archives, FamilySearch consultants will be located throughout the booth.

Computers and printers will be available for document research, assembly and printing of family trees, including artistic versions, all free of charge.

Tribute to Portugal

To celebrate 200 years of Brazil's independence, the São Paulo International Book Biennial pays tribute to Portugal, which brings a delegation and a special program in the “Pavilhão Portugal”, with artists and the discussion around Portuguese literature, with emphasis on the writer and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Jose Saramago.

Gastronomy, literature, popular culture, business and lectures encompass the event, which expects to receive 600 visitors.
