A city in province of Treviso, in northern Italy, is witnessing an extraordinary record in a country where the birth rate is in constant decline.
A Romanian immigrant family, consisting of 38-year-old Oana Bizi and her 40-year-old husband Onisin, recently welcomed their 13th child, cementing their position as the country's largest family.
Little Isaiah (Isaiah, in Portuguese), weighing 3.098 kilos at birth, brought even more joy to this already large family.
“I have a very large family, but I don’t feel tired. My days are always full of joy and smiles, my husband supports me and the children help each other. We are all excited about Isaia’s arrival in our lives”, said Oana, in a publication in the newspaper Treviso Today.
An example of family integration and growth
The Bizi family arrived in Italy in 2007, and since then they have integrated perfectly into the community of Mansue, a small town in the province of Treviso, with 4.130 inhabitants.
Evangelicals, the Bizi report that they have never faced difficulties in acceptance or integration. On the contrary, the community and local government embraced the family with open arms.
In a symbolic and significant gesture, the mayor of Mansuè, Leonio MilanHe decided to grant Italian citizenship to all members of the family without waiting for national laws.
Context of large families in Italy
The reality of large families in Italy is rare. According to information from Istat, Italy's official research body, currently only 128 families have more than four members, while 9 million “families” are made up of just one person, if that can be called a family. .
In the midst of a demographic crisis, where the average age of the population increases and the number of children per family decreases, the story of the Bizi family is a striking contrast and attracts attention.
