Pizza is not only unanimous among Italians when they go out to restaurants: frozen food is also consumed by eight out of 10 Italians, showed a survey by the AstraRicerche agency at the request of the leading company in the sector, Findus.
According to the survey, 55,6% say they consume frozen pizzas at home “frequently” and that 27% of families with children eat this type of product, on average, once a week.
The favorite flavors are similar to those consumed outside the home: Margherita is preferred by 59,2% of respondents and the Diavola has 23,5%. The latter is preferred by 29% of men compared to 18% of women aged 25 to 34.
Third place on the list is Four Cheese (22,8%) – this is the favorite of 25% of women over 50 years old. THE cake Frozen also appeared in the TOP 10, occupying seventh position, with 15% of preferences.
The survey also asked what their favorite accompaniments were: 38,7% chose French fries, 25,4% preferred crocchè – a typical fried dumpling made from mashed potatoes and egg – and 23% wanted supplì – rice cakes. with stuffed tomato sauce.
The survey also questioned the reasons why Italians consume frozen pizza and 24,4% said that the Covid-19 pandemic boosted this type of purchase, 21% chose it for convenience and the same percentage for savings. 20,7% reported that it is because they prefer dinners or meetings with friends and relatives at home and 17,8% because of the convenience.
