Some of the titles are also available for rent on services such as GooglePlay, Now and YouTube Filmes
Italian audiovisual production is not as prominent on Netflix. However, it is possible to mine the service's collection for some recent productions that are worthy of note.
Two of them are original Netflix productions. One, interestingly, adapted from a book by the British Nick Hornby (A Big Boy, High Fidelity).
Below, check out the six nominees:
Long live freedom (2013) - photo at the top of the page
Italians, just like us, live with the topic of corruption and it appears every now and then in the cinema (see Welcome, Mr. President, an Italian nonsense comedy also on Netflix). Here, a candidate disappears in the middle of the campaign. Suddenly, he reappears completely changed, surprising everyone. Until someone decides to follow him. A mix of drama and comedy, the film is directed by Roberto Andò (The Confessions).

Slam (2016)
Nanni Moretti's assistant in films such as Dear Diary (1993) and The Son's Room (2001), Andrea Molaioli directs this Netflix original production adapted from Nick Hornby's novel of the same name written for teenagers. The story revolves around a young skateboarder who reflects on the future when he discovers that he is about to become a father. Molaioli also directed episodes of the series Suburra.
Honor and Loyalty (2016)
Although spoken in German and English, this war drama is produced in Italy, directed by newcomer Alessandro Pepe. Without the resources of a superproduction of this genre, the film narrates the conflicts of conscience of a German soldier loyal to the Fuhrer after witnessing the murder, by the Gestapo, of the wife of a Jewish front colleague.

Flower (2016)
A girl, arrested for robbery, falls in love with a boy who is serving time for the same reason, but on a different side than her. Even so, they begin a relationship, between conversations through bars and exchanges of secret letters. Themes such as adolescence and impossible love gain an original approach in director Claudio Giovannesi's film.
The Confessions (2016)
the director of Long live freedom, Roberto Andò, changes tone but continues with the political theme in this drama full of suspense. Monge is invited to international ministers forum. One of the participants is found dead shortly after confessing to him. The question arises: murder or suicide? The religious then finds himself involved in the criminal investigation. In the cast, the same actor from Long live freedom, Toni Servillo, and Frenchman Daniel Auteuil.

Forgive Our Debts (2018)
Filmmaker Antonio Morabito takes an interesting approach to the crisis that is plaguing Europe and the world through the drama of Guido (Claudio Santamaria). Dismissed and without money to pay the loan, he is charged by violent agents. Ironically, one of them points the way out, offering to help him become as fierce a collector as he is. But the character's conflicts of conscience lead him to hell. RAI production, presented by Netflix as “original”.
