Eighteen films entered the competition to represent Italy in the selection of features that can compete for the “best international film” award at the 97th edition of the Oscar.
Productions whose first distribution took place in Italy or another country, provided it is outside the United States and its territories, were released (or are planned) in the period between November 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024.
Among the features are “Accattaroma”, by Daniele Costantini; “Battlefield”, by Gianni Amelio; “Cento Domeniche”, by Antonio Albanese; “Confidenza”, by Daniele Luchetti; “Food for Profit”, by Giulia Innocenzi and Pablo D'Ambrosi; “Gloria!”, by Margherita Vicario; “I Bambini di Gaza – Sulle Onde della Libertá”, by Loris Lai; “Il mio post è qui”, by Daniela Porto, Cristiano Bortone.
Completing the list are “Il Tempo che ci vuole”, by Francesca Comencini; “L'Altra via”, by Saverio Cappiello; “La Casa di ninetta”, by Lina Sastri; “La vita accanto”, by Marco Tullio Giordana; “Lubo”, by Giorgio Diritti; “Palazzina Laf”, by Michele Riondino; “Parthenope”, by Paolo Sorrentino; “Taxi Monamour”, by Ciro De Caro; “Vermiglio”, by Maura Delpero; “Volare”, by Margherita Buy; “Zamora”, by Neri Marcorè.
The Selection Committee, established by the National Association of the Italian Film, Audiovisual and Digital Industries (Anica), at the request of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will meet to vote and designate the film for the competition on September 24.
The Academy's shortlisted nominees are scheduled for December 17, while the official nominations will be announced on the same day the following month. The Oscars ceremony is scheduled for March 2, 2025, in Los Angeles. (HANDLE)
