The city of Guaramirim, in Santa Catarina, is preparing for the 17th Porchetta Festival, an event that celebrates the rich Italian culture. Carried out by Guaramirim Italian Association, the party is scheduled for September 24th and will take place in the Parish Hall of São Pedro de Alcântara, in Guamiranga.
This festival is one of the most traditional and comprehensive celebrations of Italian culture in the region. Its origins date back to 1999, when a group of 39 Italian descendants from the region brought the idea from Italy. Since 2002, the Porchetta Festival is carried out regularly, with the exception of the pandemic period.
The highlight of the party is the Porchetta, a typical Italian dish that consists of boneless pigs and roasted for more than 10 hours. These delicacies are served during lunch, after a parade by the roasting team to the sound of the party's own anthem.
The official program will begin at 10:30 am, with the reception by the choirs, followed by the opening ceremony at 11:10 am and the porchetta parade at 11:20 am.
Immediately afterwards, visitors can enjoy a delicious lunch. From 13 pm onwards, music, attractions and entertainment for all ages will be available to the public.
At 14:30 pm, a colonial coffee will be served by the community, followed by a draw with 15 prizes, including cheese, salami and wine.
The pair Ego & Gilmar will be responsible for livening up the party. For more information and to purchase a card for the event, contact 9-8498-0943 (with Gilson) or 9-8816-8550 (with Berlin). The value of the card is R$55,00. (Photo: Depositphotos)
